As
all of us know, Rakhi Envelopes are being sold through Post Offices for last few
years. Sale of Rakhi envelopes through Post Offices was introduced to promote
tamperproof & waterproof packaging solution to the customers for sending Rakhi.
Since the Rakhi festival is celebrated
during monsoon season when the atmosphere is very humid, paper envelopes may
not be able to deliver Rakhi in good condition. It also helps in brand building
of India Post as the envelopes are specially designed with India Post logo.

Narsingh Dass & Co. Pvt. Limited has been awarded work through a tender
process for supplying the Rakhi envelopes for sale during this year. Following procedure will he followed for sale
of Rakhi envelopes through Post offices this
year and remitting the payment to the vendor:
1. As per information received from Circles, a
consolidated indent on behalf of Circles have been placed by Postal Directorate
to the vendor.
2. The MRP of the Rakhi Envelopes for sale to
customers is Rs. 7.50.
3. Vendor will be paid the amount after
deducting the Retail Post charges @30%> on MRP and service tax on Retail
Post Charges.

The specification of the envel opes will be as given below:
i) Envelope will be open side with size
11ems X 22 ems.
ii) The envelope will be made up of printable
substrate of thermally bonded high density polyethylene material of 55 GSM
density and having thickness of approximate 150-170 microns.
iii) The
material will be rip
resistant, excellent tear strength
and excellent tensile strength
and have
high opacity (98% approx) and high
whiteness. The material will also
be water/moisture resistant.
iv) The material will be able to stamped and endorsed.
v)
Flap of the envelope will be self-adhesive.
5. The Circle office will consolidate the
details of the Rakhi envelops sold during the season i.e up to 17th Aug 2014, latest
by 31st August 2014. The payment will be made in one lump sum by the Circle
Office or any other Office so authorized by the Circle concerned for this
purpose by drawing a crossed cheque in the favour of the vendor. The cheque
will be sent to the vendor by Registered Post l a test by 31/08/2014. A report on
sale of Rakhi envelope to be sent to BD & M Directorate latest by 31st
August 2014.
6. As no
advertisement has been procured for printing on these envelopes, this year
envelopes will be sold without any advertisement.
7. Although vendor has been empanelled to supply Rakhi
envelopes on Sale or Return basis, in view of business considerations it is
advised that Post Offices will take all efforts to sale all the envelopes as indented
and no envelopes remain unsold.
8. The Rakhi envelopes will be sold upto
17.08.2012. Thereafter the sale will be discontinued. The unsold stock
of the Rakhi Envelopes will only be returned after the intimation is issued from
BD & MD in this regard.
(i)
The revenue earned as Retail Post charges by selling Rakhi Envelopes will be
credited under Retail Post account head 1201.00.101.03.06.
(ii)
Circles will take steps to promote the sale of Rakhi Envelopes through Post Offices.
